The Pillow Talk eyeshadow palette from Charlotte Tilbury is probably the most hyped product from the brand. It was also the one product that introduced me to the whole new world of Charlotte Tilbury’s cosmetics (it may sound a bit exaggerated, but the name of Charlotte Tilbury is up there with many high end and well-loved brands like Dior and Bobbi Brown for me!)
Here I want to share with you guys the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk dupe eyeshadow palette from XX Revolution!
It is the XXpress Quad Shadow Palette in XXposed.
I didn’t find out this XXposed eye palette as the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk dupe until I watched the YouTube video of one of my favorite YouTubers Jessica Braun! I was tempted to try out this XX Revolution XXposed palette since then! For that matter, I also purchased the RefleXXion Tender eyeshadow palette (reviewed here) from XX Revolution in the same order!
As the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk palette itself is so well-known and there are already so many great reviews out there, I’m going to focus this post on how the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk dupe, the XX Revolution XXposed eyeshadow palette, compares in different aspects.

About the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk dupe, XX Revolution XXposed eyeshadow quad
The XX Revolution XXpress Quad Shadow Palette in XXposed is a very high quality and beautiful palette itself, I call it dupe in this post just for the sake of comparing with CT’s Pillow Talk palette, which has been out couple years ago in 2018.
This XX Revolution XXposed eyeshadow quad retails for $15 USD with 4 shades each having 0.04 oz (1.2 g) of product. Although the pan size of the XXposed palette seems much larger than that in the Pillow Talk palette from Charlotte Tilbury, CT’s Pillow Talk actually contains more product (0.18 oz or 5.2 g) in total according to label from the box packaging.
However, the price of the XXposed palette is much more affordable than the Pillow Talk, so you still get more product per unit price for the XXposed palette.
XX Revolution describes the XXposed palette as ‘a mix of hella pigmented and creamy matte, shimmer, and foil effect eyeshadows’. I think it is quite true a description for this palette.
The XX Revolution XXpress Quad Shadow Palette XXposed has no detectable fragrance, is vegan and cruelty free.
Ingredients and formulation of the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk dupe, XX Revolution XXposed eyeshadow quad
One of the great things about the XX Revolution XXposed eye palette is that, it does not contain talc (unlike the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk palette, which has talc as the first ingredients), nor parabens in the shadows.
But recently, I see that the eyeshadow palettes from Charlotte Tilbury, like the Instant Eye Palette Bejewelled Eyes to Hypnotise, the Super Nude Easy Eye palette and the newest holiday 2020 edition Luxury eyeshadow palette Fire Rose, are using less or no talc in their ingredients. It is a great news for me as I always hope there are more talc-free eyeshadow palettes in the market, especially for popular brands like Charlotte Tilbury!
For the formulation of the XX Revolution XXposed eye palette, all shades in the palette are very smooth, soft and pigmented.
The ‘Pop shade’ in the XXposed palette (lower left) looks more different than that in the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk palette, it has much more solid pigmentation. It is also thicker than the sheer rose gold topper in Pillow Talk.
I think the online pictures of the XXposed quad in XX Revolution’s palette is quite different than the actual shades in person. If you look at the Pillow Talk eye shadow quad, I can say that the XXposed palette looks >95% similar (except the lower left ‘Pop’ shade) to the corresponding shades in Pillow Talk.
Swatches for the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk dupe, XX Revolution XXposed eyeshadow quad
As the other XX Revolution eyeshadow palette, the XXposed eye quad has very impressive swatches. The shadows are buttery smooth and has solid pigmentation. The rose gold shade at the lower left corner is insanely smooth, almost feels like liquid to the touch! That shade is a bit thick but super pigmented and beautiful! It is a very high quality affordable brand to say the least!
Although the rose gold shade in XXposed looks like just a gold foil in the pan, the rosy color comes out more in the swatches.
The mattes and satin shades in the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk eyeshadow palette are smooth, pigmented and blended easily, like those in this XXposed palette. The Prime shade in Pillow Talk is very pigmented and soft, it reminds me of the regular shimmer shades in the Fleur Fantastia quad (reviewed here) recently released by Pat McGrath Labs.
As mentioned earlier, except the rose gold shade in the XXposed palette, all the other shades are extremely comparable to those in the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk palette. The mattes in the former are even more pigmented and opaque.
The Pop shade in Pillow Talk is not my favorite formula from her, it is relatively stiff and doesn’t have much pigmentation. It mostly just gives a rather subtle sparkle finish to the look. As a result, I think all the 4 shades in the XX Revolution XXposed eye palette are very usable and adding something substantial to a complete eye look.

Comparing the two: eye look created using the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk dupe, XX Revolution XXposed eyeshadow quad
A critical part of determining if they are close dupes for each other is to compare the finished eye look created using each palette.
Since there is one shade in the XXposed palette that is more different from the shades in the Pillow Talk palette, I first only used the 3 shades that are similar in each palette and created a look above.
As you can see, they are almost indistinguishable! I can only tell the application in the eye look created using the XXposed palette is slightly smoother than that with Pillow Talk.
Secondly, I incorporated the final shade as well to create the look with each of the palettes.
As the base of the Pop shade in Pillow Talk is of same tone as the other pinky shadows, the Pop shade merely add some sheen to the finished look. But in the XXposed palette, the rose gold shade makes the eye look warmer by adding a golden tone to the lid.
I think both looks using all the 4 shades in each palette are also very pretty and are hard to compare which one is better. The looks created with the XXposed palette can be louder than that with the Pillow Talk palette.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I absolutely adore this XX Revolution XXpress Quad Shadow Palette XXposed! It is one of the best Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk dupe eye palette I’ve seen! If you do not own the Pillow Talk palette but love the color scheme, I think this XXposed palette is a better option. Not only because it is more affordable and very well-made, but also allow you to create more eye looks with the foiled rose gold shade. I can see a more versatile palette there. None of the shade in the XXposed palette feels like a dud.
As for the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk palette and other earlier luxury eye palettes from her, the Pop shade is pretty but is likely to develop a hard pan over time. I see the same thing happening in the Walk of No Shame palette.
I will rate this XX Revolution XXpress Quad Shadow Palette XXposed as:
- Texture: 9/10
- Color payoff: 10/10
- Longevity on eye lid: 9.5/10
- Quality consistency among shades: 9.5/10
- Color scheme uniqueness: 7/10
- Affordability: 10/10
