Dior 859 Pink Corolle: new Dior 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palette
Dior 859 Pink Corolle: new Dior 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palette

Dior 859 Pink Corolle is the 3rd new Dior 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palette that I’ve purchased recently! I’m hooked to the formula and the color story of each of these quints since I got the Dior 879 Rouge Trafalgar (reviewed here) and the Dior 769 Tutu (reviewed here)!

This palette retails for $62 USD, I got mine during the 15% off sales from Nordstrom (it was price-matched to Macy’s)

Similar to other recent Dior eyeshadow quints, Dior 859 Pink Corolle is also made with talc. Three shades in this palette have talc as the first ingredients and 2 have talc as the third ingredients. If you’re looking for a new eyeshadow palette that doesn’t contain talc, the Haze Obsessions line of palettes from Huda Beauty (Khaki Haze palette was reviewed here) may be a good option.

The formula of the shadows in Dior 859 Pink Corolle has the same great qualities as the other two palettes that I reviewed before (Dior 879 Rouge Trafalgar and Dior 769 Tutu). The shimmers and satins are very creamy, soft and have good pigmentation. The matte is very blendable and buildable although a little bit dry to the touch.

Unlike the Rouge Trafalgar and Tutu, Pink Corolle does not contain any topper or glitter shade. This type of shade can give you a nice sparkly finish to your eye look, but it is quite hard to pick up even with the finger, and there’s no coverage at all, pretty much transparent on the lid. I prefer other formula better, so I’m glad this palette does not contain the topper shade.

When I first looked at the palette, I was a bit intimidated by the neon pink shade on the upper right corner. Much more so than the bright baby pink next to it! (I can imagine most people think so too?) However, the moment that I swatched the shades, I was very much relieved and happy about how wearable they are! These two pink shades are so creamy and smooth. The color is actually very refreshing and not overwhelmingly bold or pigmented.

After recently reviewing the Blueprint stack eyeshadow from Melt Cosmetics, and also the Salted Caramel Eyeshadow Palette from Too faced, I started to redefine what actually is ‘highly pigmented’ eyeshadows like! I can assure you that this Dior quint is not that level of pigmentation. I prefer this type of pigmentation as I can optionally choose to intensify the look or just leave it like that for a regular day time look.

I think the shades in this palette coordinate and work with each other very well. If you like pink, this palette is a very good and effortless one.

The mauve shade in this palette was also a pleasant surprise! I didn’t even notice this shade when I looked at pictures online. My attention was completely caught by the pinks! This mauve is very beautiful and flattering no matter on the swatch or on the lid!

Comparison swatches between Dior 859 Pink Corolle, 879 Rouge Trafalgar and 769 Tutu

These are the 3 new Dior 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palettes that I have for this new formula.

Rouge Trafalgar and Pink Corolle are most similar as they are in the red tones. I think people would be interested in seeing how they compare. Although Tutu is not as similar, it contains the purple/periwinkle kind of shimmer and the matte that can be close to some of the shades in the Pink Corolle palette.

From the swatch comparsion, it seems these two palettes shares similarities but Rouge Trafalgar generally gives a deeper eye look. It would be perfect for people with medium and deeper skin tones.

See how they look from different angles:

For the light shimmer and toppers, as well as the mauve and purple shades comparison between these 3 palettes:

The lightest highlighter shade (#1) in Dior 859 Pink Corolle is not a topper, but a smooth and creamy shimmer shade. Compared with the toppers in Rouge Trafalgar and Tutu (#2 and #3 respectively), it is much more substantial and opaque. A big thumbs up!

Both the purplish shimmers in the Pink Corolle and Tutu palettes are also very pretty (#4 and #5 respectively). When I was creating an eye look with that shade (#5) from the Tutu palette, I was disappointed that it looks muted on the lid compared with the swatch. So I’m hopeful that the shade from Pink Corolle (#4) will be brighter on the lid.

2 eye looks created using the Dior 859 Pink Corolle palette

Eye look 1 Dior 859 Pink Corolle: new Dior 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palette glammining.com
Eye look 1

For eye look 1, I used the baby pink on my crease and all over the lid, then added some neon pink to the outer 3rd of my lid, and deepen up the outer corner with the matte plum shade. Then highlighting the inner corner and brow bone with the light cream shade.

Eye look 2 Dior 859 Pink Corolle: new Dior 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palette glammining.com
Eye look 2

For eye look 2, I started with putting the matte plum at the crease and blending it out, then I used the mauve/periwinkle shade as the center point by putting it all over the lid with my finger. Then finished up with highlighting with the cream shade as in look 1.

I like both eye looks created with this palette. Looks made with these new Dior eyeshadow palettes are all very wearable even for going to work in my opinion.

Final Thoughts

Overall, this Dior 859 Pink Corolle palette is a beautiful high quality palette. The looks created feel elegant to me even when I’m playing with as ‘risky’ and bold a shade as neon pink! If you love neon pink and fuchsia but still want to wear them to work and not being too showy, this palette is for you! Although it is pricey, you’re getting what you pay for.

I will rate this new Dior 5 Couleurs Couture in 859 Pink Corolle as:

  • Texture: 9.5/10
  • Color payoff: 8/10
  • Longevity on eye lid: 10/10
  • Quality consistency among shades: 9.5/10
  • Color scheme uniqueness: 9.5/10
  • Affordability: 6.5/10
