(* affiliate link) This Anastasia Beverly Hills Highlighter Iced Out is a very exciting release in 2021 to me! I have been wanting the limited edition ABH highlighter from 2018, the Amrezy, since it was sold out.. so I’m really glad I was able to order this ABH Iced Out Highligher online once it was released one or two weeks ago!
I adore the white/golden packaging of this ABH Iced Out highlighter. Even the design of the box packaging is so stunning! It is simple and clean. I can’t wait to share the details and thoughts with you guys!

About the Anastasia Beverly Hills Highlighter Iced Out
This ABH Iced Out highlighter retails for $34 USD. There are 0.39 oz or 11 g of products in the compact, which is a decent amount. I got mine off Sephora‘s* website.
This Anastasia Beverly Hills Highlighter Iced Out is described as an ‘all-skin tone flattering highlighter with the perfect combination of smooth finish and ultra-beam effects for a lit-from-within radiance’. They also said that this Iced Out highlighter gives a wet look with ‘high reflectivity’ and is ‘weightless’. You can also use it wet or dry.
Reading the description of this highlighter, it is interesting to know that the design of the press/pattern on the highlighter, which is 3-dimentional (see more clearly on my YouTube video here), allows you to pick up the products better with a brush. Now I feel like this ABH Iced Out highlighter it is very well thought-out!
Ingredients and formulation of this Anastasia Beverly Hills Highlighter Iced Out
This ABH Iced Out highlighter does not contain talc in the ingredient list. It is also known to be vegan, cruelty-free, parabens- and fragrance-free. I appreciate when makeup brands pay attention to avoid potential hazardous chemicals to be used as ingredients. Fragrance-free is another big plus as I don’t think any smell or fragrance can actually help to make a better formulation or improve the product quality, especially nowadays when people realize that it can be a source of allergen for some people.
The texture of this Iced Out highlighter is a standard pressed powder, not very hard pressed into the pan. It contains some very fine microglitters, which does not look glittery on the face.
It can also be picked up pretty easily with a synthetic hair brush. I do agree that the raised design of the highlighter helps with the pick up. The highlighting powder does feel weightless on the cheek.
Swatches for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Highlighter Iced Out
Looking at this Anastasia Beverly Hills Highlighter Iced Out in the pan, I was expecting an icy white highlight. A little bit to my surprise, the swatch appears golden to pale gold in color. It isn’t like yellow, but I was hoping it to be more white in tone.
The second swatch picture was taken from the side of the swatch instead of head-on in the first one. In this side angle, the highlighter looks more white than gold. I still wish this was the shade that I see straight from the front, even though my skin tone is not super fair. I prefer more cool tone highlight on my face.
Also tried this Iced Out highlighter on the top of my cheek bone, the reflection it gives is pale gold instead of white. Even though it does not look unflattering on me, I don’t love it as this moment. I can see that it may not be everyone’s cup of tea. I doubt if this will really be an ‘all-skin tone’ highlighter as they described.
Another thing about this ABH Iced Out highlighter is that, it is not ultra-reflective right off the bat, definitely not the ‘seen from outer space’ type of highlighter. Although I believe you can build it up to a more noticeable level, I prefer highlighters that can be customized. Therefore, this is a plus for me.
If you’d like to see the highlighter blended out on the skin, you can check out the video below (toward the end):
Comparison of ABH Iced Out Highlighter with Dior Backstage Glow Face Palette & Nabla Amnesia
When I first opened the compact of this ABH Iced Out highlighter, I immediately thought of the white Strobe shade in the Dior Backstage Glow Face Palette in 001 Universal* (reviewed here).
The Dior face palette is in a different formula than this pressed powder Iced Out highlighter, they appear to be very similar in the pan. However the swatch is completely different (the gold Strobe shade is more similar but less yellow than Iced Out).
For the Nabla Skin Glazing in Amnesia, it is also a baked jelly formula instead of pressed powder. Comparing to Iced Out, it is a tiny bit deeper and more peachy, which I think caters towards more skin tones from light to dark (maybe too deep for fair skin).
Putting these two of my favorite highlighters side by side with the ABH Iced Out highlighter further justifies why I don’t like the tone of this golden highlighter as much personally. The two lighter strobe shades in the Dior Backstage palette are most cool, so as the Nabla Amnesia.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I like the quality and the performance of this Anastasia Beverly Hills Highlighter Iced Out. As I mentioned before, I don’t love this highlighter at this moment due to the fact that it looks more yellow gold than icy on my cheek, which is not what I was hoping for. So this is a matter of personal preference.
If you are looking for a pale gold highlighter which is not super high shine but buildable, this Iced Out highlighter is a very nice option. I would highly recommend it if those are your criteria.
The amount of product you are getting here is a lot, other than being a face highlighter, it can also be used as a shimmer eye shadow. For me, even if I don’t necessarily want to put this shade of highlighter on my face, it may work well if I use it as a collar bone highlighter.
I will rate this Anastasia Beverly Hills Highlighter Iced Out as:
- Texture: 9/10
- Color payoff: 7.5/10
- Longevity on face: 6.5/10
- Powder fineness: 8.5/10
- Affordability: 7/10
