(*affiliate link) Hey Guys! This is the Chanel Les 4 Ombres 382 Lumieres et Vibrations eyeshadow quad, which was released in the summer of 2021! It is the end of 2021 and also the time I want to spoil myself and splurge on new luxury makeup!
I don’t have a lot of Chanel eyeshadow quads in my makeup collection. The last one I got was probably like 2 years ago. So I’m not super familiar with their formula or the past quads. I wrote this review just based on the quality of this quad and compare with my existing eyeshadow collections from many other brands.
The packaging of this Chanel Les 4 Ombres 382 Lumieres et Vibrations is very similar to all other Chanel Les 4 Ombres Multi-effect quadra eyeshadow* quads, same size and also come with a velvet sleeve for the eyeshadow compact. Very luxury and sleek packaging as you can expect from Chanel.

About the Chanel Les 4 Ombres 382 Lumieres et Vibrations Multi-effect quadra eyeshadow
This Chanel Les 4 Ombres 382 Lumieres et Vibrations Multi-effect quadra eyeshadow quad retails for $62 USD. It is currently the newest addition to these Chanel quads, available from Chanel’s website. I got mine from Nordstrom earlier but seems it has already been sold out now.
This eyeshadow quad is made in Italy and contains a total of 0.07 oz or 2 g of products. There is no true matte in this quad. The ‘dark’ shade at the lower right has relatively less reflection on it. It doesn’t swatch like matte, but applied like a matte shade on the lid. Everything else has a sheen to it.
There is also a little card with look suggestions came in the packaging of the quad.
According to the Chanel’s website, this eye quad is composed of “pure, long-lasting pigments ensure an intense colour effect while the soft, smooth texture allows for effortless application”.
Ingredients and formulation of the Chanel Les 4 Ombres 382 Lumieres et Vibrations Multi-effect quadra eyeshadow
For the 4 eyeshadows in this Chanel Les 4 Ombres 382 Lumieres et Vibrations, there is only 2 different formulas listed on the box packaging. One of them, which I assume are the 3 shimmery shades, does not contain talc. However, the other formula, which I believe is the dark matte-like shade in the quad, has talc as the first ingredient. It also contains BHT as a preservative there.
I wish these luxury makeup brands, including those from Dior (like the backstage palette reviewed here), start to avoid using talc and other questionable ingredients to make their eyeshadows. Many non-luxury makeup brands are all heading towards talc-free makeups, Too Faced* is a very good example imo, their new eyeshadows and powders are all talc-free.
There is no detectable fragrance to the eyeshadows. There is no parabens or formaldehyde compounds listed in the ingredients, but there is nowhere mentioned in Chanel’s website.
For the formulation of the eyeshadows in this Chanel eye quad 382 Lumieres et Vibrations, they are very smooth and silk-like in a sense. They give me a soft and elegant look. However, I don’t think they are pigmented eyeshadows, especially when applied onto the lid with a brush. Depending on your skin tone, you’d probably need to build them up to make them show.
I wish there is a deeper shade than the ‘dark’ shade in the quad. Because of this, the resulting look lacks dimension.
Swatches for the Chanel Les 4 Ombres 382 Lumieres et Vibrations Multi-effect quadra eyeshadow
The swatches above were from one swipe for most of the shades. They were all silky smooth. The shimmers were very pretty and reflective. While I could see a sheen for the dark satin-matte shade from the swatch, it was much less intense.
Eye look created using the Chanel Les 4 Ombres 382 Lumieres et Vibrations Multi-effect quadra eyeshadow
I was expecting the shadows to be more pigmented that what I got here. A deeper shade than the ‘dark’ shade would have made this look more defined.
The color story of this 382 Lumieres et Vibrations is right up my alley, but the outcome of the look was admittedly disappointing imo.
Eyeshadow primers and wet application may improve the look and are worth trying, but for now, using dry natural hair eye brushes with layering didn’t help too much.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I like the color story of this Chanel Les 4 Ombres Multi-effect quadra eyeshadow in 382 Lumieres et Vibrations. The formulation of the quad is decent, there was no skipping or unevenness both in the swatch and on the lid. I’d only go for this palette when I just want a wash of color or a very light makeup look.
With the hefty price tag and the performance of this quad, I would not recommend it. It does make me feel good when using luxury makeup, but the quality doesn’t cut it. If you’re in the market for luxury makeup with higher quality, I’d recommend the wet/dry formula quads from Tom Ford. They are luxury and yet I can create sophisticated and beautiful looks with them.
