Aether Beauty Topaz mini Crystal palette

I recently found this Aether Beauty Topaz mini Crystal palette on Sephora’s website. Immediately I became interested as it looks a lot like the Charlotte Tilbury Luxury eyeshadow palette in Green Lights (reviewed here)!

I’ve heard good things about this eco-friendly brand since a while ago, but didn’t have a chance to try their palettes. I love olive green and yellowish gold eyeshadows, so I’m glad Aether Beauty came out with this color scheme in their formula.

Topaz (upper left) is the smoothest shade in the quad. It is a green gold metallic with a bit of thickness to it. It is very smooth and has one-swipe opaque pigmentation. It is a very intense shade in a good way.

The shade Cosmic Awareness (upper right) swatches and looks like an olive green, but they described it as ‘gold brown shimmer’. This shade can crumble up a bit if you pick it up with a finger and apply it to your eye lid.

There is no matte in this palette. The shade Rejuvenation (lower right, described as ‘bronze brown metallic’) is the least shimmery in my opinion. It is also the only shade that appeared to be a little patchy on the swatch.

The last shade in this quad, Solar Energy (lower right), is a very foiled gold metallic. It is thinner than Topaz and is very sparkly.

The shades are more vivid when swatched than they look in the pans in general.

Comparison with the Charlotte Tilbury Green Lights palette

Given how similar the color story of this Topaz mini Crystal palette to the Charlotte Tilbury Green Lights eyeshadow palette (reviewed here), it seems likely that they can be the dupe of each other.

The biggest difference between these 2 palettes is the green gold metallic shade, Topaz, in the Topaz mini Crystal palette.

In some sense, the 3 darker shades in CT’s Green Lights are very similar. So I think the Topaz mini Crystal palette has more shade diversity and has more potential to create different looks.

Comparison swatches for the two palettes

I can see there are some shade overlaps between these 2 palettes. Some of the shades are very complementary to each other if they are to be used to create a look.

Comparing them side-by-side, the CT Green Lights palette feels a bit smoother and high quality, which is expected as the CT palette cost more than 2 times more, with the amount of products you’re getting from each palette is almost the same.

Eye looks created using the Aether Beauty Topaz mini Crystal palette and CT Green Lights

For the Aether Beauty Topaz mini Crystal palette eye look, I used all 4 shades. I added Topaz as the ‘topper’ shade on the center of my lid, although this shade is not sheer and has a lot of pigmentation to it.

This is a complete look and I like how smooth and well-blended the eye look was.

For the comparing CT Green Lights’ look, I also used all the shades there. The two looks using 2 different palettes came out to be very close. I think the look created with the CT palette is more elegant and cohesive. Since I also used the shade Topaz in the Aether Beauty’s look, a lot of the light (lime) green came through. I think if I don’t use that shade, the look will be almost indistinguishable.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I like this Aether Beauty Topaz mini Crystal palette and I’ll recommend it, especially if you like the Charlotte Tilbury Green Lights palette. They are very similar and I prefer the former one! I think most clean beauty brands are underrated and some of them are making very nice products with much better ingredients.

I will rate this Aether Beauty Topaz mini Crystal palette as:

  • Texture: 9/10
  • Color payoff: 9/10
  • Longevity on eye lid: 9/10
  • Quality consistency among shades: 7/10
  • Color scheme uniqueness: 8/10
  • Affordability: 10/10
