Rare Beauty highlighter Enlighten and Liquid Blush Joy and Happy

I enjoyed very much the palettes that I purchased from Rare Beauty a while ago, the Confident Energy (reviewed here) and Magnetic Spirit (reviewed here) eyeshadow palettes. So I figure the hyped Rare Beauty highlighter Enlighten and the liquid blushes Joy and Happy would probably worth a try!

About the Rare Beauty highlighter Enlighten

The Rare Beauty Positive Light Liquid Luminizer highlight retails for $22 USD with 0.5 oz or 15 ml of product. I got mine off the Sephora’s website.

I chose the lightest shade, Enlighten. It is a champagne liquid with light-reflecting pearl particles. This highlighter is described as ‘a silky, second-skin liquid highlighter that creates a lasting, soft, and luminous finish’. They also recommend this to be mixed with foundation for instant radiance.

There are 8 shades in total for this highlighter and it is a good color range for different skin tones.

About the Rare Beauty Liquid Blush Joy and Happy

The Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush retails for $20 USD with 0.25 oz or 7.5 ml of product.

The shade Joy is a muted peach and it has been very popular since this liquid blush was first launched. I waited for a long time before it came back to stock!

The shade Joy is a muted peach and it has been very popular since this liquid blush was first launched. I waited for a long time before it came back to stock! The other shade Happy is a cool pink. Both of them give a radiant finish, as opposed to the matte finish for other blushes in this line.

These liquid blushes are described as ‘a weightless, long-lasting liquid blush that blends and builds beautifully for a soft, healthy flush’.

There are also 8 shades of blushes available.

Ingredients and formulation of the Rare Beauty highlighter Enlighten and Liquid Blush Joy and Happy

These highlighter and liquid blushes are free of detectable fragrance, talc-free, paraben-free, vegan and cruelty-free. They are also free of many skin sensitive ingredients.

I am very impressed on how well these liquid highlighter and liquid blush blend into the skin!

The highlighter is very natural and does not gather in fine lines and wrinkles. This is the first time I ever used a liquid highlighter. I wasn’t sure about it because it looks quite intense in the bottle. But it turns out to be very wearable and subtle.

Same for the blushes, they are very easily blended and spread onto the cheek. A little goes a very long way for these products! I also don’t have much experience with liquid blushes, I thought they would be more sticky and don’t work well on top of powders, but I was wrong! They perform very well no matter there is powder underneath or not.

I think the liquid blush Joy and Happy are somewhat different. Joy is very pigmented and I feel like I’m not able to sheer it out no matter how small a dot I put on my cheek at the beginning. I almost think it is too pigmented.

However, I like the liquid blush in Happy a lot more. It is ‘much less pigmented’ when compared to Joy, you can see the swatches and video below. It is sheered out easily and looks very natural.

It seems the highlighter Enlighten is too light on my skin tone, but when it is sheered out onto my cheek bone, it looks gorgeous!

For the liquid blushes, I think coral blushes are generally very popular and I also thought I would like Joy the most, but in this case, I think Happy meets my expectation better! Joy is a bit too much work to make it less noticable for me.

Final Thoughts

I didn’t expect I like these Rare Beauty Highlighter Enlighten and liquid blushes so much! They perform very well as liquid makeup products. I highly recommend it! The highlighter Enlighten is my favorite among these 3 products!

For the blushes, I’m not crazy about Joy, but I like Happy a lot! It is very quick to use and not messy at all. I like these formulae!

I will rate these Rare Beauty Highlighter Enlighten and liquid blushes as:

  • Texture: 10/10
  • Color payoff: 10/10
  • Longevity on cheeks: 7/10
  • Color range: 8/10
  • Affordability: 8/10
