(*affiliate link) Hey Guys! Today I’m sharing my reviews and thoughts on the new Buxom Ash K Holm eyeshadow palette *! I like the jewel-tone (right) side of this palette a lot. The purple shimmer and matte really caught my attention.

As I also like a simple neutral look, especially for a day look, it seems to me that this Ash K Holm palette is a perfect versatile palette for day and night outing!

Ingredients and formulation of the Buxom Ash K Holm eyeshadow palette

The full list of ingredients can be found online in Buxom’s website *. Every shade in this Buxom Ash K Holm eyeshadow palette * contains talc, with the majority of them having talc as the first few ingredients. Besides, about half of the eyeshadows contain carmine as a dye.

These eyeshadows are parabens-, mineral oil-, petroleum-, and cruelty-free. There is also no detectable fragrance in this palette.

For the formulation of these eyeshadows, both the mattes and shimmers are buttery soft and pigmented. With an exception of the purple matte (Royalty), which is slightly drier, but it still performs decent on the lid.

The purple metallic shade (Major) is my favorite in this palette! I thought this shade would be dry and hard to pick up, but it was soft and creamy! It reminds me of the eyeshadow textures in Pat McGrath’s Celestial Divinity Luxe Quad in Fleur Fantasia * (reviewed here). Major is also similar to the shade Iridescent Orchid in the same quad, although the latter leans more towards fuchsia.

Another shade I want to mention is Dynasty. It reminds me of Sweet Lucy in the Mary Jane palette * from Melt Cosmetics (reviewed here), minus the chunkiness! I love shades like this and since I got the Mary Jane palette, I have been looking for eyeshadows or palettes that has this type of color but in a more user-friendly formula. I’m glad this Buxom Ash K Holm eyeshadow palette has this shade! Although there’re also chunky pieces in Dynasty, they are way more manageable and less fallout than those in Sweet Lucy!

This Ash K Holm palette is actually the first Buxom eyeshadow palette that I ever tried. So I have nothing to compare in terms of if this is their usual quality. Due to the fact that I haven’t heard people talking too much about Buxom’s eyeshadows, I didn’t have much expectation to begin with. But now I’m really impressed by the overall quality and performance of this palette!

The majority of the shades were swatched very smoothly. They are very pigmented. I am especially impressed by how creamy and pigmented are the shimmers. Even though some of the shades are little bit thicker (Stacks) or chunkier (Dynasty), they are still very stunning.

The purple shimmer (Major) was swatched so beautifully, I adore this shade! It is also a very creamy and pigmented shade. Jewel tone shades like Major and Scorpio are not always creamy, they are more often drier in my experience. So these are very well-made.

Among the darker mattes, Rich Rich and Smokin’ were somewhat patchy and not very pigmented in the swatch, but they both work fine on the lid.

The matte purple (Royalty) is another shade that is so well-made. Purple is not an easy shade to master the formula, but I think Buxom did a great job on that. It may be a little on the sheerer side, but totally buildable and non-patchy. Love it!

Comparing Buxom Ash K Holm eyeshadow palette to the Artist Couture Supreme Bronze Palette

Part of the color story in this Buxom Ash K Holm eyeshadow palette * reminds me of the recent Artist Couture Supreme Bronze Eyeshadow & Pressed Pigment Palette* (reviewed here). Both of them have a tangerine shade and some bronzy brown shades, as well as a deep taupe shade (Dynasty in Ash K Holm palette in Glisten in Supreme Bronze), which make them really similar!

Seeing the comparison swatches before, it looks like except the jewel tone shades in the Ash K Holm palette, other shades are pretty similar in both palettes indeed!

I think even the textures and swatches for these two palettes are very similar. As an obvious one, the deep taupe shimmer in the Supreme Bronze is less pigmented.

I love this eye look! It is sultry but yet very effortless! I think the shades in this Buxom Ash K Holm eyeshadow palette * very well curated to allow the creation of different vibes of look and yet a complete stand alone palette by itself. This look is not too smokey or over the top that I can definitely wear in the day time!

All the shades were applied and blended very beautifully and smoothly. The deep brown (Rich Rich) and black (Smokin’) may appear patchy in the swatch, but they are very blendable and easy to build up the intensity that you would like!

I was very excited to use my favorite shade in this palette to create this second look! It turned out stunning on the lid! I used my finger to apply Major on my lid. I haven’t tried to use these eyeshadows wet, but I’m sure it’ll just be more sparkly and pigmented!

I’m now tempted to use my Pat McGrath’s Celestial Divinity Luxe Quad in Fleur Fantasia *to see if I can create a similar look with the shades there, they are similar to Major.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I love this Buxom Ash K Holm eyeshadow palette * and would highly recommend it if you like some jewel tones integrated into a palette that also carries everyday neutral shades! I honestly like this palette better than the Artist Couture Supreme Bronze palette. These eyeshadows are softer and easier to blend. The shades are also more true to what you see in the pans!

This is a very nicely made palette at a reasonable price point. The formula is great and it gives couple options for the pops of color that allows you to make some really unique and pigmented looks. I have nothing bad to say about these shades, except one small caveat is that, there are some fallout from the shimmers, but I think it still worths trying if you’re interested!

I will rate this Buxom Ash K Holm eyeshadow palette as:

  • Texture: 9/10
  • Color payoff: 9/10
  • Longevity on eye lid: 7/10
  • Quality consistency among shades: 8/10
  • Color scheme uniqueness: 9/10
  • Affordability: 8/10
