Hey Glamminers (hope you like this name Lol)! I have this Dior 5 Couleurs Couture eyeshadow palette in 1947 Miss Dior for a while now, it was released as limited edition and it is still available if you’re interested in it!
The first time I saw this Miss Dior quint, I was instantly attracted to the color story- very feminine and energetic, and yet very wearable on a daily basis.
The color stories of these Dior 5 Couleurs Couture eyeshadow quints have always been elegant and easy to use for me. I have reviewed a couple other color stories in this line as well: 189 Blue Velvet and 519 Nude Dentelle (reviewed here), 649 Nude Dress (reviewed here), 859 Pink Corolle (reviewed here), 879 Rouge Trafalgar (reviewed here) and 769 Tutu (reviewed here).

About the Dior 5 Couleurs Couture eyeshadow palette 1947 Miss Dior
The eyeshadow quint 1947 Miss Dior retails for $62 USD. There is a total of 7g or 0.24 oz of products. As mentioned before, this is a limited edition eyeshadow palette. This palette is made in France.
There are 2 shimmers, 1 topper shade, and 2 mattes. Although the deep brown ‘matte’ doesn’t look completely flat as the other matte shade, there is a hint of satin to it in the pan and in the swatch.
One thing I’ve noticed Dior has made a change to the packaging of their quints is that, the newer ones do not come with the classic velvet pouch for storing the palette. This is a little disappointing as they feel less luxurious without the pouch, and yet they are still very pricey.
Ingredients and formulation of the Dior 5 Couleurs Couture eyeshadow palette in 1947 Miss Dior
The full list of ingredients can also be found on Dior’s website.
One thing I really wish Dior, as a leading luxury makeup brand, start doing is to make talc-free eyeshadows. It is a trend that many clean makeup brands are doing now, which I think is the future of beauty products.
As for the pros in the ingredients, Dior is adding skincare ingredients to their eyeshadows, such as aloe vera and plant oils, which help to soothe and hydrate the skin.
For the formulation of this Dior quint in 1947 Miss Dior, I think they are quite pigmented and smooth on the skin. But for some reason, when I apply the shadows using a makeup brush (natural hair), most of the pigments stick to my brush and not much to my eye lid, even though I use an eye primer.
Although I know Dior’s eyeshadows are not known for pigmentation, I still want a little bit more impact without digging into the pans or layering several times for one color. This also makes this light color-leaning palette less versatile for medium or deeper complexions.
Swatches for the Dior 5 Couleurs Couture eyeshadow palette in 1947 Miss Dior
The finger swatches were beautiful! I like most of the shades in this quint. The color story is cohesive for creating a single type of eye look. The drawback is that it is not very versatile- most of the looks will be on the pinky side unless you only use 1-2 of the non-pinky shades.
Although I like the red-brown middle shade in the palette, I was expecting it to be more brown-leaning instead of red-leaning in the swatch.
Eye look created using the Dior 5 Couleurs Couture eyeshadow palette in 1947 Miss Dior
Honestly I did struggle with building up the intensity of the shadows during the application. After layering the shades a couple times on my lid, I can’t build it up anymore, even when I kept doing it.
I was a bit shocked that the pigmented and smooth swatches were not translated onto the eye lid, even when I applied with my finger. The eye look on the left of the picture was what I was able to achieve after several rounds of building up with my finger.
I have not tried to wet my brush before applying. It may be something worth trying, but I could imagine that is not gonna make a day and night difference.
Final Thoughts
Overall, this Dior 5 Couleurs Couture eyeshadow palette in 1947 Miss Dior is not my favorite in the line. I would not recommend it if you are looking for something pigmented, or effortless. For my skin tone, if I don’t build it up to a certain extent, the eyeshadows are not going to show up. I’m a light to light-medium in most foundation ranges.
But if you are very fair and would like something subtle but still gives a luxury makeup vibe, you may like this palette.
I would have loved this palette if it was more pigmented and easy to use.
I will rate this Dior 5 Couleurs Couture eyeshadow palette in 1947 Miss Dior as:
- Texture: 6/10
- Color payoff: 5/10
- Longevity on eye lid: 6/10
- Quality consistency among shades: 6/10
- Color scheme uniqueness: 6.5/10
- Affordability: 6/10
