Since the purchase of my first Tom Ford eye quad in 2019, the Soleil collection, I’m hooked and want to try more of their wet-dry formula eye quads. But it is not an easy task to choose which to spurge on as they are pricey to me ($88 USD per quad). After doing my research, I decided to go for the Honeymoon quad, which seems to be a “fail-safe” quad from Tom Ford.
Comparison and swatches
What I liked about the 02 Soleil et Lune quad (quality-wise) are all found in Honeymoon. All the shades are very pigmented, smooth and feel luxurious.
It is hard to catch the most accurate representation of the shades in photos as to what you see with your eyes. So I included photos from several angles under natural lighting. However, I would say that if you see these colors in person, it may look a tad deeper than the photos.
Same for the swatches, I’m showing it in different angles too, with the same natural lighting:
As its popularity speaks for itself, the shades are pretty! I like the upper two shades the most. They can be used as one-and-done shades. Although there is no matte and all shades are having some sheen to it, I have no problem in creating a complete eye look with only these 4 shades.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I think the quality is very good and you won’t be disappointed with its performance on the eyes if you decided to get this.
One last thing about the wear of these shadows is that, I think they look more seamless and ethereal to me with time of wear. It seems like the shadows just melted into the natural oil on my skin. The formula is incredible.
The final question of whether I will recommend it or not all boils down to whether you like the color scheme. To be honest, I don’t think many of the color stories in these quad scream unique to me in the way that I want to run out and get it. BUT! There is an exception! I will talk about it in my next post, so please stay tuned! Finally, the rating for this Tom Ford Honeymoon eye color quad is:
- Texture: 10/10
- Color payoff: 10/10
- Longevity on eye lid: 10/10
- Quality consistency among shades: 10/10
- Color scheme uniqueness: 7/10
- Affordability: 5/10 (I usually only get them when there is a sale from Sephora)
