Skimlinks Test Today I am going to talk about the Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in 01 Soleil Neige and 02 Soleil et Lune. They came out in October 2019 and are limited edition for the winter. There are three eye quads in this collection but I only have two of them. The one I don’t have being 03 Soleil d’Hiver. They are the same size and quality as their regular Tom Ford eye quad for the wet-dry formula. Just by looking at them, they very much scream winter to me because of the cool color tones and the color stories they have.

Tom Ford 01 Soleil Neige
Soleil Neige has a slightly drier and stiffer formula overall than 02 Soleil et Lune. The swatches of the 4 shades in Soleil Neige appears less dark or intense as the color in the pans. Indeed all 4 shades are quite sparkly but not glittery. On the eye, the two darker shades are not quite as distinct as in the swatches, but they are still beautiful. As I personally like a wash of color and not too intense, I can still create some nice smokey eye looks with this quad. I’m always attracted to this type of color scheme even though I don’t do smokey eye very often! It gives me a mysterious vibe somehow!
Tom Ford 02 Soleil et Lune
The color story in Soleil et Lune is more vibrant. Moreover, the 4 shades in this quad has a more creamy touch than Soleil Neige. As you can probably see from the swatches , it is smoother in Soleil et Lune. Actually all 4 shades in Soleil et Lune are very smooth. I think no one will deny that the green shade is the most eye-catchy in this quad! It is probably also the reason why people are interested in it (including me)!
The green is a very beautiful shade although I don’t incorporate a lot of light greens in my eye looks. I will admit that it is tricky to create a complete eye look with only the shades in this quad. If I have to pick something about it (definitely not on the quality), I would say it leaks a deeper shade. The grey is a bit too light if you’re using it for deepening your outer corner. Having said that, I still love this quad and especially the bronzy rose gold color. I often do a one shadow look with this color and never feel bored!
Comparison with Tom Ford Cream and Powder Eye Color
I want to include one comparison that I feel it looks quite similar to the taupe shade in Soleil Neige. It is the TF Cream and Powder Eye Color in 06 Young Adonis.
The 3 swatches on the left side are from Young Adonis. Order: topper shade only, cream shadow only, topper on top of cream shadow. The 4 on the right column are from Soleil Neige. Young Adonis seems to be warmer than the taupe in Soleil Neige, they are indeed quite different on my arm!
Final Thoughts
I like the color schemes of both quads and I enjoy them very much. The quality is on par with their regular wet-dry formula eye color quads. If I have to choose between them, I prefer the 02 Soleil et Lune more as they are simply more creamy and easier to apply for me. I understand that they are no longer available online (may be you can find them on eBay?) easily, if you are interested in getting them, maybe you’ll still be able to find them in some department stores or some Sephora locations in store. For review purpose, I recommend these Soleil quads from Tom Ford and I rate them as:
- Texture: 8/10 (7/10 for 01 Soleil Neige and 9/10 for 02 Soleil et Lune)
- Color payoff: 8/10 (7/10 for 01 Soleil Neige and 9/10 for 02 Soleil et Lune)
- Longevity on eyelid: 8/10
- Quality consistency among shades: 7/10
- Color scheme uniqueness: 8.5/10 (7/10 for 01 Soleil Neige and 10/10 for 02 Soleil et Lune)
- Affordability: 5/10
