Anastasia Beverly Hills has recently released a Soft Glam II mini eyeshadow palette, which is available at a couple of retailers such as Sephora, Ulta and Nordstrom. I have not gotten my hand on this new mini palette because I own the original ‘full size’ Soft Glam palette that has been released a while ago. Given the similarities between this original and the mini Soft Glam palette, I figured it would be interesting to revisit the original ABH Soft Glam palette in my collection.

About the ABH Soft Glam palette (and the Soft Glam II palette)
The original ABH Soft Glam palette is still available in most of the makeup retailers that you can name. It is retailed for $45 USD. It is described as ‘an everyday to night palette with 14 shades, including essential mattes and glam shimmer finishes’, and it ‘let you create softly-glamorous looks any time’. All of ABH’s 14-pan eyeshadow palettes have a double-ended eyeshadow brush included.
The shades in the original ABH Soft Glam palette are:
- Tempera (ultra-matte velvety beige)
- Glistening (iridescent gold with a hint of pink reflect)
- Orange Soda (ultra-matte pastel peach)
- Rose Pink (rose gold with a soft pink iridescent hue)
- Sultry (a hybrid satin metallic finish warm chocolate brown)
- Bronze (metallic gold bronze)
- Mulberry (ultra-matte mulberry)
- Dusty Rose (ultra-matte dusty lilac)
- Fairy (multi-dimensional light gold)
- Burnt Orange (ultra-matte deep orange)
- Sienna (ultra-matte earthy brown)
- Rustic (ultra-matte deep cinnamon brown)
- Cypress Umber (ultra-matte dark coffee)
- Noir (ultra-matte deep carbon black)
While, the mini Soft Glam palette is mostly a re-promote of this original palette, with the 6 shades (highlighted in Bold above) re-appearing in this mini version from ABH. There are 2 new shades in this mini palette:
- Dreamer (metallic pink champagne)
- Incense (matte dusty terracotta)
This ABH mini Soft Glam II palette retails for $29 USD and is described as ‘An essential collection of warm- and cool-toned, neutral eyeshadows for day-to-night wear in a travel-friendly palette’.
For the shades which are common to the original and mini Soft Glam palettes, I checked their ingredients are mostly the same. However, sometimes there may be slight difference in the texture (more creamy, smoother, etc.) or the color and payoff of the shades. So, for whether they are exactly the same (even thought there may be, I would expect it to be very hard to tell any difference on the lid tbh), you might want to check out other reviews or YouTuber’s videos.
Both of the original Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam and the mini Soft Glam II palettes are talc-free and do not have any fragrance!
Swatches of the ABH Soft Glam palette
The eyeshadows in ABH 14-pan palettes are pretty much always creamy, smooth, blendable and pigmented. This is no exception! The shimmers are phenomenal as per ABH quality! The only shade that I think not as good is the black shade (Noir). As you can see in the swatches, it is patchy and not as even. It is somewhat chalky to the touch too. I hope the mini Soft Glam II palette has a slightly better texture for the same Noir shade.
3 ABH Soft Glam looks
For this first ABH Soft Glam look, I only used the shades which are also available in the mini Soft Glam II palette. I think it will be stunning if you have the mini palette and use the shade Dreamer (metallic pink champagne) on the bare part of the lid in this eye look! Although it is a very simple and wearable look as is.
This is a more night time and sultry look created using this palette. I used the black (shade Noir) as the liner. Highlighting the brow bone with the lightest shimmer shade (shade 6 from the bottom on the arm).
Beware there are fallout from most shades in this palette, as they are very soft and pigmented. Especially for deeper eye looks, may be you would want to tap off the excess before applying.
This final look I created is based on the first look. I just added the pink shimmer (Rose Pink, a rose gold with a soft pink iridescent hue) on the bare part of the lid and then highlight my inner corner with the shade Glistening (iridescent gold with a hint of pink reflect) (2nd shade from the top on the arm).
Final Thoughts
I haven’t been using this Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam palette for a long time. I almost forgot how much I (and we all, isn’t it?!) loved this versatile and easy-to-use palette! I will recommend it if you don’t already have this palette!
For the mini Soft Glam II palette, I probably won’t be getting it because I already have this original palette. However, if you love the Soft Glam palette and you want a travel-friendly version of it with 2 new shades, I think it is a good option. Also because the original Soft Glam palette may be a little old already if you got it around the time it was first released, it may be a good time to grab this new little guy! I think the Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam palette is a staple for makeup lover!
I will rate this Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam palette as:
- Texture: 9/10
- Color payoff: 9.5/10
- Longevity on eye lid: 10/10
- Quality consistency among shades: 8/10
- Color scheme uniqueness: 7/10
- Affordability: 7/10
