(*affiliate link) Hey Guys! This is the new Dior Backstage eye palette in 006 Bronze Neutrals*, a new fall release from the Dior Backstage collection! Including this newest eye palettes, there are 6 of them so far. It’s the first time I ever tried these Backstage eye palettes!
Compare to their regular 5 Couleurs Couture eyeshadow palettes*, these have smaller pans but more different shades in one palette, plus the price is lower than the 5-pan ones! I didn’t think too much about potential formula difference as they’re from Dior anyway- that’s what I thought when I go ahead for the purchase!
The package is very sleek and stylish, perfect for travel!

About the Dior Backstage eye palette in 006 Bronze Neutrals
This new Dior Backstage eye palette in 006 Bronze Neutrals* retails for $49 USD. This palette has a net weight of 0.35 oz or 10 g of products. 006 Bronze Neutrals is made in France. This is a limited edition palette. There is also another eye palette came out with this Bronze Neutrals- it is the 005 Plum Neutrals*, also a limited edition.
There are 9 pans in this palette, but same for all the palettes in this collection, the one at the left upper corner is an eyeshadow base or primer.
Other than being an eyeshadow palette, Dior claims that some of the shades can also be used as eyeliner and highlighter.
There is only one matte shade (smoky black) at the lower right hand corner, which is supposed to double as an eyeliner.
All the other 7 shades are either shimmers or metallic.
Ingredients and formulation of the Dior Backstage eye palette in 006 Bronze Neutrals
The full list of ingredients of this Bronze Neutrals palette can also be found on Dior’s website*. Same as other Dior eyeshadows, they do not avoid using talc in their eyeshadow formulas. They didn’t specify which shade is which made of what ingredients. There are shades which talc as the first ingredients and others second or lower.
The eyeshadows do not have any fragrance. They also didn’t disclose if their formulas are devoid of certain harmful chemicals such as parabens and formaldehyde. Thinking about it, I’m actually surprised that many of these luxury, expensive brands don’t care to tell their customers the most important information about their products other than how they looks. I hope they can be more informative in terms of what are we actually using on ourselves.
About the formulas of this Backstage eye palette 006 Bronze Neutrals, I was honestly disappointed on how they perform.
I would say many of the shades are very smooth and creamy to the touch. However, they are much less pigmented than I expected, especially when they claim them to be ‘ultra-pigmented’! Given the whole ocean of eyeshadow palettes available in the market, I don’t think these are even close to pigmented.
I was also surprised some of the more ‘easy to make’ shades like beige (first row on the right) and bronze (second row on the right) shimmers not nearly show up on my skin when finger-swatched! If it doesn’t show up on me, or requires a lot of effort to make it show up, I can’t even imagine how it will be for people having a deeper skin tone. This is unacceptable.
When the shades are applied with a brush, similar things happen as I mentioned above.
True that you can make a soft look with the 6 shades that are more pigmented, but I think it is just not worth it, given the shadows don’t perform especially well. Many of us can agree that we are just buying the brand name, and maybe the packaging itself, rather than the quality of the products inside.
Swatches for the Dior Backstage eye palette in 006 Bronze Neutrals
Some of the shades I did have to go back, pick up more shadows and swatch several times before you can see the pigmentation shown. This is especially true for the ‘beige’ shade at the upper right corner in the palette.
Although the ‘smoky black’ is supposed to be an eyeliner shade, it is not as dark as I wanted too. Definitely need to build up for an eyeliner. It also didn’t go smooth at the lash light with an eyeliner brush.
I’m not sure if this is the intention of Dior to have these eyeshadows to give a ‘soft glam’ instead of an intense or pigmented eye look, but imo they are too light and not even showed up well on the lid. I had to put more effort in making a distinct eye look.
2 eye looks created using the Dior Backstage eye palette in 006 Bronze Neutrals
Just judging from the look, I liked how it turned out. But in this first eye look, I used both the ‘beige’ and ‘bronze’ shades in the palette, but they do not show up. I tried to build them up but the other shades just cover them up. The ‘warm copper’ shade is a good one, it gives a beautiful sheen and shading to the lid, but it’s already the best shade in this palette.
Similar to eye look 1, I was able to create a decent eye look, but the shadows are just not pigmented or easy to use. It requires a lot of building up for them to show. Both looks were light and only gives a light wash of color on the lid.
Final Thoughts
Overall, this Dior Backstage eye palette in 006 Bronze Neutrals doesn’t call my name. Unless you just wanted to own a Dior Backstage eyeshadow palette, I will not recommend this particle palette as there are a lot of much better options in the similar price range or even in many effordable brands that costs much less.
I would say this palette is not a complete fail, but given the quality inconsistency and common color story, I will turn somewhere else. If you like such color story with gold and bronzy fall vibes, I would recommend other palettes such as Sigma Beauty Ambiance Eyeshadow Palette* (fantastic quality and value, reviewed here), Patrick Ta Major Dimension Eyeshadow palette* (reviewed here), NARS Unwrapped mini Eyeshadow Palette in Laguna* (reviewed here), and my favorite eye quad of all time the Tom Ford eye color quad in Suspicion* (it is a splurge, but the formula and performance are phenomenal, reviewed here).
Overall, I will rate this Dior Backstage eye palette in 006 Bronze Neutrals as:
- Texture: 6/10
- Color payoff: 5/10
- Longevity on eye lid: 6/10
- Quality consistency among shades: 5/10
- Color scheme uniqueness: 6/10
- Affordability: 6.5/10
