(* affiliate link) Hey Guys! Today we can looking at the ILIA Liquid Powder Chromatic Eye Tint * in Mythic and Fresco! I don’t usually buy single eyeshadows no matter they are in powder or liquid formats. However, these ILIA eye tints are so pretty with a nice range of shades, I’m really curious about them! They are also in my Sephora cart for a long time!

During the recent Spring Sephora VIB sale event, I finally pulled the trigger and got 2 shades of these ILIA Liquid Powder Chromatic Eye Tint!

Their packaging is like the product inside- very clean! They are a little smaller than I expected, although still taller than the Stila Glitter & Glow liquid Eye Shadow * in size.

About the ILIA Liquid Powder Chromatic Eye Tint in Mythic and Fresco

The ILIA Liquid Powder Chromatic Eye Tint * retails for $28 USD a piece and contains 0.12 oz or 3.5 ml of product each. There are 8 shades currently available. They all have a shimmery finish. Somewhat like the Stila Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow * (not the Glitter & Glow counterpart).

According to ILIA, these eye tints are ‘clean and highly-pigmented’ that ‘transforms into a weightless, metallic powder’. They also ‘instantly locks in place without creasing’, ‘water-based formula that doesn’t crease or budge’.

These ILIA eye tints are also the winner of the Best Clean Eye Shadow award from Glamour in 2021. Every single shade of these eye tint looks stunning to me! I just want to get them all!

Ingredients and formulation of the ILIA Liquid Powder Chromatic Eye Tint in Mythic and Fresco

As a clean beauty brand, the ingredients used in making the ILIA products do not contain talc and other harmful or controversial ingredients. I also like that there are natural plant extract and natural antioxidants in these eye tints. According to ILIA, they contain the ‘skin-smoothing Horse Chestnut Flower and antioxidant-rich Honokiol (Magnolia Bark Extract) for a 99% naturally derived, water-based formula that doesn’t crease or budge.’

For the formulation of the ILIA Liquid Powder Chromatic Eye Tint in Mythic and Fresco, they are not runny or thick. I think their consistency is very comparable to the Stila Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow *.

They are very easily diffused and blended with a finger on the skin, very long lasting on me throughout the whole day. I also don’t think they dry down too fast in a sense that I have enough time to manipulate it on my lid. After blending, they do set very well and no budging.

However, if you want to layer them to intensity the look, I don’t recommend doing it while they are still wet. I tried to put more on top of the first layer before it completely dried, the first layer just moved and being wiped out by my finger. If you are doing this with the wand, it maybe better, but I still think you need to wait until the first layer is completely set before adding a second one.

Another caveat that I learned from using these ILIA Liquid Powder Chromatic Eye Tint is that, if you have a sensitive eye, do not let them touch your upper lash line! My eyes were stung badly when I applied too much of these eye tint (regardless of the shade) that went into my lash line. I had to clean them all off immediately. If you just apply them on your lid without touching the lash line, or any other mucous area of the eye, it should be fine.

Both of the ILIA Liquid Powder Chromatic Eye Tint in Mythic and Fresco are very pretty colors! They blend like a dream, smooth, and non-patchy!

One thing I would say though, is that the shade Fresco doesn’t swatched the same color as it appears in the tube. I expected a bit more brown or bronze in it than a cool platinum shade, although it is still very beautiful.

I am really impressed on how well they look after blending with my finger. There is no bold spot nor unevenness in the blended area! I just hope they won’t dry out (as fast)!

Mythic and Fresco are rather universal shades in many of our eyeshadow collection! Here I’m comparing the Tom Ford Cream & Powder Eye Color * in Young Adonis, elf Liquid Metallic Eyeshadow * in Comet, Stila Shimmer & Glow * in Boheme and Vivid Smoky Quartz, as well as the Stila Glitter & Glow * in Smoky Storm and Rose Gold Retro.

I know some of my Stila liquid eyeshadows are drying out as they don’t spend as easy as before. While Rose Gold Retro is the newest among all (other than the ILIA eye tints), it still blended very nicely. Among all these comparing shades, I think ILIA’s eye tints performs the best!

Looks created using the ILIA Liquid Powder Chromatic Eye Tint in Mythic and Fresco

Mythic swatched on the lid. Left is one layer with finger blending, right is with two layers

First of all, the shade Mythic is a beautiful shade. It translated well onto the eye lid. As I mentioned before, the main issue is to let the first layer dry down before adding more. But the good news is, they do build up nicely if you do it the right way!

Fresco swatched on the lid. Left is one layer with finger blending, right is with two layers

I thought I would like Mythic better, but it turns out I like Fresco more! It is a staple shade and allows me to create a very easy but yet sophisticated eye look! It is almost a no-makeup-makeup look! I love Fresco! The same application caveat applies here as well.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I love these ILIA Liquid Powder Chromatic Eye Tint in Mythic and Fresco, especially the latter shade! I think it’s worthwhile to invest in these liquid eye tints if there is 1 or 2 shades that you like and will use it regularly.

However, I do have to mention again that beware of using these eye tints too close to the mucous areas of your eye as they can irritate! And also wait for the shadows to dry down before adding more on top.

All in all, I would highly recommend these eye tint if you can see yourself reaching for them often! I only hope they do not dry out as fast as the Stila liquid eyeshadows!

I will rate these ILIA Liquid Powder Chromatic Eye Tint in Mythic and Fresco as:

  • Texture: 9.5/10
  • Color payoff: 8/10
  • Longevity on eye lid: 9.5/10
  • Quality consistency among shades: 9/10
  • Shade range: 8/10
  • Affordability: 4/10
