Looking at my whole face oil and serum skin care collection, I realized how many I have tried over these few years.

My skin always have some issues. The top ones being: acne-prone, redness/uneven skin tone, pores and dryness. But here I am introducing 5 face oil or serum for acne skin that I see fast results with!

Having tried many face oils and face serums so far, some I used for a while but I don’t see any difference. Some I see results slowly over a course of weeks. While others I can see or feel a difference within several uses.

Since the majority of the products I tried do not work for me as claimed by the manufacturers, the ones that work really stood out to me.

Today I want to share with you the 5 “permanent” skin care products that are staples in my daily routine. I used up at least one full bottle for each of these items, some are even in my 2nd or 3rd bottle.

Besides, I also want to point out that the money you pay does not always commensurate to the results you get. The principle of Less is More! #Face oil or serum for acne skin.

#1 Super Peptide Serum (GOOD MOLECULES)

GOOD MOLECULES Super peptide face serum. Face oil or serum for acne skin.
Good Molecules Super peptide serum

This Super Peptide Serum (30 ml/ 1 oz for $12 USD, I order it from Beautylish) claims to “hydrate, brighten, and smooth for a healthy, youthful-looking glow”. It contains 26 ingredients that are vegan and does not irritate my skin.

The face serum itself is a cloudy fluid that has a little bit of thickness to it. I usually use a whole or 3/4 of a full dropper every morning. It is absorbed right into the skin and feel very hydrating.

After using it for 1-2 weeks, I feel more hydrated. It also helps with evening my skin tone as a whole. I also see some brightening effect from it too.

It may not have all the anti-aging effects that some skin care products claim to have, but I think hydration is a key to anti-aging and this serum totally achieve this claim. Plus you are only paying a fraction of what many other similar products cost. #Face oil or serum for acne.

#2 LUNA sleeping night face oil (SUNDAY RILEY)

Sunday Riley LUNA sleeping night face oil. Face oil or serum for acne skin.
Sunday Riley LUNA sleeping night oil

The LUNA sleeping oil from Sunday Riley (15 ml/ 0.5 oz for $55 USD) is a retinol oil claims to “improving the appearance of wrinkles, redness, and pores for visibly younger-looking skin”. There are 17 ingredients in this oil. Other than retinoids, most of the other ingredients are fruit and seed oils. They also mention this oil is not appropriate to use during pregnancy.

This face oil is non-greasy and absorbs very well into the skin. It doesn’t feel oily to me at all, it is on the watery side (which I like!). The blue color of the oil helps to make sure the product is evenly spread onto the face.

I purchased this product when I first started using retinoids. One thing I need to mention is that if you are new to this oil, you will notice a strong smell, even after putting on your face. It may not be a very pleasant smell imo, but you will get used to it with time!

After using this oil for 1-2 weeks, I noticed the redness of my skin is largely gone and my skin is smoother. However, when I stopped using it, the redness came back.

I think this oil from Sunday Riley performs pretty well and it does what it claims. I will continue to use this product. #Face oil or serum for acne.

#3 Niacinamide Serum (GOOD MOLECULES)

GOOD MOLECULES Niacinamide face serum. Face oil or serum for acne skin.
Good Molecules Niacinamide serum

The Good Molecules Niacinamide serum (30 ml/ 1 oz for $6 USD, I also order it from Beautylish) claims to “refine skin tone and texture for a brighter, healthier-looking complexion”. It contains 10% Niacinamide (vitamin B3) and 15 ingredients. Niacinamide has a lot of benefits to our body and skin.

The texture of this face serum is more liquidy and clear than the Super Peptide Serum. It also absorbs very quickly into the skin and very hydrating. I like to use it as a base to moisturize my skin before putting makeup on in the morning. I use a full dropper every time.

When I was only using this serum to prep my skin in the morning, I feel my skin has enough hydration for a long time and my skin feels smooth. I think both the Super Peptide Serum and this Niacinamide Serum are hydrating and smoothing, as a result more radiant.

If you are on a budget and wondering which Good Molecules skin care product to try, I would recommend to start with this Niacinamide Serum. Because it is very affordable and delivers good results as it claimed. #Face oil or serum for acne.

#4 Maracuja oil (tarte)

tarte Maracuja face oil. Face oil or serum for acne skin.
tarte Maracuja oil

The Maracuja oil from tarte (50 ml/ 1.7 oz for $48 USD) was the very first facial oil that I ever tried a couple years ago. I was hooked and curious about what facial oils can do to improve my skin since then. It is vegan and contains only two ingredients: the cold pressed maracuja oil and a fat-soluble vitamin. So what you are using is very uniform and not diluted by other ingredient. It has quite a list of claims from tarte’s website. But the main one being “promotes firmer, brighter, smoother-looking skin”.

This face oil is not as greasy as many others out there but I would say it is slightly oilier than LUNA from Sunday Riley. It is colorless and light weight in texture. As the LUNA oil, I use 3 drops at night.

Although I am not using it as frequently as before these days, it is a relatively affordable oil and I definitely noticed an improvement in the overall look of the skin after using it religiously for a week or so.

I recommend to get a medium/smaller sized bottle (not more than the 50 ml size) even if you are using it regularly. I got a deluxe size in my last order and I think the smell of the oil may have changed slightly over time. Tarte does not specify how long is the shelf-life for this product. #Face oil or serum for acne.

#5 Wild Rose Brightening Absolute face oil (KORRES)

KORRES Wild Rose Brightening Absolute face oil. Face oil or serum for acne skin.
KORRES Wild Rose Brightening Absolute oil

This Wild Rose Brightening Absolute oil (30 ml/ 1.01 oz for $54 USD) from KORRES claims to “visibly brighten skin and replenish moisture for a smooth, glowing complexion”. It contains 22 ingredients (with vitamin C) with real rose petals in it.

This vitamin C face oil is non-greasy and it smells absolutely heavenly!! I can smell the rose even after putting it on my face. For this reason, I think it is very relaxing and calms me down mentally whenever I am using it. I use it at night whenever I want to pamper myself with a spa like (mentally) experience!

My skin feels plumped and hydrated with using this oil. However, what I like most about this oil is how good it smells, which also lasts for a while. I never used a skin care product that has such pleasing smell that actually put me in a good mood! I will keep using this product although not in a daily basis. #Face oil or serum for acne.
