(*affiliate link) Hey Guys! I got the Too Faced Born This Way Sunset Stripped eyeshadow palette * from the Sephora VIB sale recently! This is the first Too Faced Born This Way eyeshadow palette I got. I do not own the original one. The color story of this new Sunset Stripped palette looks very appealing to me! I always love a warm sunset vibe palette. Like the Natasha Denona Sunset eyeshadow palette * is my all time favorite! Although this palette is not as warm.
I like this type of less bulky packaging from Too Faced than their tin packaging. There’s also a nice sized mirror that I always use when using this palette.

About the Too Faced Born This Way Sunset Stripped eyeshadow palette
This Too Faced Born This Way Sunset Stripped eyeshadow palette retails for $ 52 USD. I’m not familiar with the pricing of Too faced eyeshadow palette. But somehow I think they increased the price for this type of palette.
There are 8 mattes (all the bigger rectangular shades) and 8 shimmers (all the smaller square shades) in this palette. There are different formulas for the shimmers: metallic, sparkly, and more traditional shimmers.
There are a total of 15.2 g (0.4 oz) of matte shadows and a total of 4 g (0.08 oz) of shimmer shadows.
This Too Faced Born This Way Sunset Stripped eyeshadow palette is strongly fragrant in my opinion. There’s a pungent old-fashioned flora smell to it. However, I don’t seem to smell it once it’s on my lid.
This palette is made in Italy.
Ingredients and formulation of the Too Faced Born This Way Sunset Stripped eyeshadow palette
Too Faced has changed their eyeshadow formula to talc-free since a couple eyeshadow palette releases ago. Given the potential health concerns of talc for the human body, it is definitely a positive change for many. Apart from this, they also added coconut water, alpine rose and hyaluronic acid to their ingredients, which has benefits to the skin.
This palette is also parabens-free and cruelty-free.
For the formulation, the mattes are very smooth and blendable. They are all non-patchy and with the right pigmentation that you can easily control how deep or light the shade is on the lid.
It’s not a matter of formulation, but my only complain about the mattes is that, I wish some of them are more different on my eye lid. For instance, the 2nd and the 3rd mattes from the left are basically indistinguishable on my skin tone. Similarly for the 1st and 4th matte shades from the left.
In terms of the shimmer shades, I think they are nice and easy to use as well. They are very easily picked up with a brush or finger. I’ve heard people having not very great experience for the shimmers. I can see that the shimmery shades can have some fallout and somewhat chunky, but they are very pigmented and beautiful on the eye lid.
Not sure if others also observed that, but I definitely found some of the shimmer shades developing a hard pan already with only a couple uses.
Besides, for the color choice, I wish the shimmers on the right of the palettes are lighter in color. I personally don’t usually do a smokey eye and thus prefer light-colored shimmers.
Given all these, I still think this is a nice palette that worth a decent rating.
Swatches for the Too Faced Born This Way Sunset Stripped eyeshadow palette
All the shades were swatched beautifully on the arm. Smooth, creamy and pigmented. I love how the mattes are shimmers are swatched!
Although some of the shades do appear very similar in the pan, they constitute a nice depth and gradation from lighter to deep.
I think the shimmers will be very flattering in various skin tone. There is also a nice variety of them.

3 eye looks created using the Too Faced Born This Way Sunset Stripped eyeshadow palette
In this first eye look, I tried to incorporate as many shades as possible. Since there is a wide range of brown shades from the mattes, I was able to create a natural depth near the end of my crease! The mattes behave very well. I also liked the topper-like shades, the 1st (Shell We Dance) and 4th (Shell Yeah) shimmer shades from the left. They simply makes the finishing look a touch of shine and sparkles.
For the second look, I wanted to have something lighter in general for daily wear. The brown shimmer shade (Bonfire Babes) gave some definition at the crease, while the light bronze shimmer (Suns Out) gave a subtle sheen for my skin tone.
This third look has to be my favorite one so far! I always love a light pinky lavender look! I adore the 2 shimmer shades I used: Surfboard and Shell Yeah! (The shade Surfboard is close to my heart!) They are just beautiful shades for the center of the lid. This eye look gave me all the sunset vibe I’ve been hoping for from this palette!! Love it!
