(* affiliate link) Hey Guys!! Thanks for visiting Glammining.com! Today I’m going to share my review of the 2021 Holiday, Too Faced Forbidden Fruitcake mini eyeshadow palette with you!
I have to admit that most of the eyeshadow palette releases from Too Faced have been far from impressive to me in these 2 years. One thing is the formula, the other thing is the color stories. However, Too Faced’s 2021 Holiday mini palette have been a big hit for me! One of the great things I appreciate is that, Too Faced no longer use talc in their formula (none contains talc since the Teddy Bare palette *). I hope they will keep this up. As long as they are keeping their shadow quality, I’m sure many people will be happy about this!
As usual for the Too Faced Bite-sized mini eyeshadow palettes, they have cute packaging with a scent.

About the Too Faced Forbidden Fruitcake mini eyeshadow palette
The Too Faced Forbidden Fruitcake mini eyeshadow palette* retails for a $27 USD. There are 8 shades each of 0.7 g or 0.024 oz. This mini palette is currently only available in Ulta*. It doesn’t say this is a limited edition palette, but it’s a Christmas theme-related palette, so I believe it is limited.
As most Too Faced eyeshadow palettes, there is a scent to the shadows. This time, it does smell like a fruitcake, but not completely… a bit artificial for my taste. If you’re not a big fan of scented eyeshadows, you’ll be fine! I don’t smell the palette unless sticking my nose close to the shadows! I don’t smell anything once the shadows are on the lid either.
According to the description, this Too Faced Forbidden Fruitcake mini eyeshadow palette* is ‘inspired by the classic holiday treat’, the shadows are ‘creamy (powder), high-pigment and one swipe payoff’.
There are 3 types of finishes in this Too Faced Forbidden Fruitcake Bite-sized mini eyeshadow palette:
- Wanna Piece of Me? (banana cream matte)
- Rum For The Hills (dark caramel matte)
- Candied Pineapple (antique gold w/ rose gold glitter shimmer)
- Haters Gunna Cake (chocolate brown matte)
- Frosty Buns (ballet pink shimmer)
- Cherry (burgundy matte)
- Nobody Loafs Me (light tan metallic)
- Forbidden Fruitcake (medium brown with shifting emerald green glitter metallic)
This palette is bulk made in USA and assembled in Dominican Republic.
Ingredients and formulation of the Too Faced Forbidden Fruitcake Bite-sized mini eyeshadow palette
You may also find the full list of ingredients from the product’s website on Ulta*. As I mentioned at the beginning of this review, this is the first talc-free Bite-sized mini eyeshadow palette from Too Faced!! I am really excited and happy about that.
Not only does the eyeshadows creamy and easy to blend, AKA high quality, but they also make people like me, who prefer talc-free eyeshadows, to have more options to choose from when it comes to eyeshadow brands.
The 3 shimmer shades in this palette do contain dimethicone as the 3rd or 5th ingredients, but not listed in the rest of the shades.
Although it not stated in the description, judging from the list of ingredients and what Too Faced usually does, this palette is parabens-free.
For the formulation of the shadows in this Too Faced Forbidden Fruitcake Bite-sized mini eyeshadow palette, I think they did what they promised in the description!
All the matte shades are very bendable and smooth. I don’t think they feel dry at all. The shades are also very pigmented. However, one thing that would have made this palette much better is to make the 2 brown mattes on the top row more distinct- such as making one of them much deeper.
For the three shimmer/metallic shades, although they are on the thicker side, they are super buttery and pigmented! All the shades are very easy to deal with. I don’t have any issue in making them work at all. There is no dud imo.
Swatches for the Too Faced Forbidden Fruitcake Bite-sized mini eyeshadow palette
All the swatches are one-swipe pigmentation. It was very impressive! Even though I would prefer a deeper brown, I’d say there is a decent range of matte shades for the crease considering an 8-pan eyeshadow palette. I think you could even use the duo chrome shade (Forbidden Fruitcake) to help deepen the outer corner.
The shade Forbidden Fruitcake may seem to be an intense eyeshadow for everyday use, but this palette is actually very everyday makeup-friendly! Many of the shades are very wearable even to the office. However, because of this, I don’t think this is a very unique palette for the eye looks that you can create.
The swatches are also true to what you see in the pans.
2 eye looks created using the Too Faced Forbidden Fruitcake Bite-sized mini eyeshadow palette
I liked how these 2 looks turn out! They are very wearable for me. The first look using the duo chrome Forbidden Fruitcake was not as intense as I was expecting. If you prefer a bigger contrast, you could intensify it by layering the shade at the center of the lid.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I really like and would highly recommend this Too Faced Forbidden Fruitcake Bite-sized mini eyeshadow palette if the color story interests you.
The quality of the shadows in this palette is phenomenal and as I have mentioned a tons already, I’m really glad Too Faced changes the ingredient and switched out talc from their eyeshadows! I hope they will keep doing that and move towards making good formulas using only clean ingredients.
Other than it’s a cute and holiday-themed palette, I think this Forbidden Fruitcake mini palette is also lovable for its versatility and performance. It is easy to create wearable looks with this palette. However, having said that, it is not a mind-blowing palette as a whole. So, if you own a lot of palettes or are an MUA, you may already have a lot of these shades, or even good formulas of these same shades, in your collection.
For me, I’m happy I have this palette and will keep using it! Among other Too Faced Bite-sized mini eyeshadow palettes I’ve tried before (Be My Lover*, reviewed here; That’s My Jam*, reviewed here; Salted Caramel*, reviewed here), this Forbidden Fruitcake palette is the best considering the performance and color story!
I will rate this Too Faced Forbidden Fruitcake Bite-sized mini eyeshadow palette as:
- Texture: 9.5/10
- Color payoff: 8/10
- Longevity on eye lid: 8.5/10
- Quality consistency among shades: 9/10
- Color scheme uniqueness: 7.5/10
- Affordability: 8/10
